About Meela

Meela is a VC-backed mental health startup on a mission to help millions of people feel better by helping them find their right fit therapist. Since its launch in March 2023, Meela has helped over 20,000 people find their best-fit therapist and has been named one of Europe’s hottest startups. The female founder duo was on Draknästet and named Female Founders of the Year. In our opinion, it should be as natural and easy to go to therapy and get help from a therapist as it is to go to the gym and get help from a trainer.

About the role

We are looking for an intermediate or senior software developer to join our team of 3 to help build the next stages of the Meela platform, with a particular focus on building out new functionality and features for the client- and therapist-facing aspects of the platform. The role is based out of our Gothenburg office, though working from home is allowed.

The role requires the following skills:

• At least two years experience with a backend language
• A desire to work with Rust
• At least a basic understanding of database modelling and SQL
• As our API is predominantly GraphQL, at least a passing knowledge of what GraphQL is

What we're like in Gothenburg:

We don't really do frills, but we do thrills?

We figure most things out on our own so you'll occasionally do things to a database that might cause your heart-rate to increase. It's fun.

To cool off we usually blow off steam over pool and an inordinate amount of Chinese food (no rice). We do this together, because every single one of us will have done at least one crime per week that made us second guess ourselves.

What we build and how we build it:
We're quite a pragmatic bunch that's all been burnt by DRY and other things more times than its worth. We'll happily copy things around until we are sure of how things actually fit together as opposed to assuming we have an idea beforehand.

As we running fast through the problem space which adds quite a bit of sprawl to our codebase. Rust helps keep us sane with its time-checking and writing things that not only type-check but also convey some semantics (have you heard of match ;))
